Approach

How we work...

The 'way' in which we work (our approach/process/methodology) has evolved over many years. We utilises our collective experience and track-record in successfully delivering all kinds of projects - naturally enough, we have also learnt from a couple that didn't go as smoothly.

We have refined our approach, in to a number of (hopefully obvious) phases...

Requirements

Define the high-level requirements. What you want to achieve with your site. For example, focus on winning new customers in a geographic location, age group, technology field, or simply telling visitors about what you do or your area of expertise/interest. If we, (you and us) don't understand these high-level goals - it will be very hard to achieve success overall.

If you are clear about your needs - please send us a copy!  Alternatively if you would like us to help, please let us know.

Prototype & design

We will discuss your high-level requirements with you and then start to develop a working prototype, this will allow you and us to discuss the design interactively, via the internet.

Once you are happy with the overall design of the prototype, we will then produce a project plan for the rest of the project.

Scope

Once you are happy on the design (the "look-and-feel" of the prototype) we will then use this and the project plan to agree and define the 'scope' of the project. (This simply defines what will be built.)

Build

Construction phase - This is mainly all the technical stuff and can progress while you deliver any content (text and pictures) that you want integrated in to the site. You will be able to view progress as the site is developed and view progress against the project plan.

Testing

This is usually a highly interactive phase, we usually ask you to help us review the site to check for typographical errors and ensuring picture of products are in the correct place, etc.

Once we are all happy that we haven't missed anything, we will ask you to verify that you have tested the site to your satisfaction.

Deployment

This just means the phase associated with 'going-live' or moving the new site to your website address. This also includes all the preparation work prior to and just after going live. This will include basic search engine submission.

Then after the end of the development project.

Maintain

This is how you are going to update the the site after the development project is finished, unless this is included in the requirements. We can maintain the site for you, we can train you to maintain the site, or you can elect to have it maintained by a 3rd party. It all very much depends on what you want to do and the type of site we have built, the frequency of the changes you need to make, etc.

:-)

Gathering requirements for websites is a lot like taking exams...
because - you won't pass, if you answer the wrong question.
